Drowned out again

poured the saline
slowly
like a brook dances 'neathe the
oaks

cleaned the essence away
no more signals left
not a mere mention of life

and yet
the old bark, cast astray,
leads us to another treeline
in a grey forest

just near a creek bed
overflowing
into our own conscience

to drown us out
again and again
and again
